Just to add, the ends that go into tubes if you flatten the tubes (not completely) over the ends and fully weld the end of the tubes to the ends. You can grind this to make a nice smooth transition. In my experience the bend in the plate is a weak point and the extra weld will keep the bend at 20deg, my slowly moved to about 20deg after about 3k miles.
