please dont take this as gospel
but i read on lcb that somebody had a hard time at iva
using washers as spacers....
i really would check this out..
but no way could the iva man be upset by a machined spacer/ top-hat shaped thingy
as these are the norm when fitting rod ends etc and are obviously infinitely variable for adjustment of angles
ie .one thick one thin ..etc etc
