hi is there a chance of me gettting a cutting list
only problem is im not too sure what your steel comes in stock form over in the UK
Over here in New Zealand 1.6mm 25x25 EWS only comes in 5m lenghts

Sorry for the delay in replying to this thread, I,ve been busy sorting my PM probs out & building my car

I,m happy to forward the cutting list I have to anyone that wishes to use it ,

BUT

The cutting list was sent to me a long time ago by a now non active forum member, but did say in an email to me that it is ok to forward to other members.

I personally haven,t used it, as I tend to have alot more steel available than is needed to cut a full chassis, but I,ve looked thru the list & it seems all ok, as it seems that the cutting is done in a methodical way & gets the best from a quantity of steel,
I however work slightly different, I tend to cut the tubes starting from the longest first down to the shortest, tho this may not be the most economical use of steel, like said I always have more than i need.

I,d say this tho, if you are cutting your own chassis tubes then you will have enough steel if you purchase 6x 6mtrs of 25mm box tube & 3x 6mtrs of 19mm box tube(20mm also ok) if you use either the cutting list method or the way I do it...longest down to the shortest etc.
If you are building as per book to fit an Ali rear tub then you will have enough round tubing if you purchase 4mtrs of the round tube ,
If you are altering the rear of the chassis to accept a GRP rear tub then you will need approx 2 mtrs extra of the 25mm box tube,( tho this extra cost is offset against not needing to purchase the round tube).

From the quantities I,ve suggested above, you will have some steel left over of both tube sizes, but this can come in handy for making up some dummy shocks to enable to get a chassis to the rolling stage without the need to purchase the shocks too early on in the build.

I hope the info is of some help, but please remember that I tend to not "think" of how much steel I need, more a case of "I use what I need".
