Ahh, sorry i see what you mean now

Yes he made a point of inspecting all of mine thoroughly at my test so personally i would leave them visible until after the test if your panel isnt easily removable

Thanks for your suggestion Mark, that's a good idea to leave the panels off for IVA, also it will let the inspector see all the welds aswell.

they accepted the photos of mine as they couldnt see the ones in the tunnel as it was sealed up from underneath.

make sure you weld the bracket on both sides.

Ah, that's interesting AshG. Nice to have some first hand experience of these matters. Presumably your photos had enough detail to show the 8.8 or 12.9 markings on the nut?

Steve I could be wrong but in all the years I have worked in the motor trade and trust me it's more than a few, I cannot remember seeing 8.8 or any other on a nut.
Its more the strengh of the bolt @ 8.8 or more and personally my brackets are folded to give more area to weld to.

The metric nuts have something more like |8| stamped on them. It's hard to get nuts worse than grade 8 here.

Ash you say weld the brakets both sides is that cause the iva man says so.
surely if they are welded properly on one side that should be strong enough.
