![]() Ah, that's interesting AshG. Nice to have some first hand experience of these matters. Presumably your photos had enough detail to show the 8.8 or 12.9 markings on the nut?

![]() Steve I could be wrong but in all the years I have worked in the motor trade and trust me it's more than a few, I cannot remember seeing 8.8 or any other on a nut.
Its more the strengh of the bolt @ 8.8 or more and personally my brackets are folded to give more area to weld to. |

![]() The metric nuts have something more like |8| stamped on them. It's hard to get nuts worse than grade 8 here.

![]() Fold the ends slightly and weld inside and out,over enginering in this department is not a bad thing and keeps the IVA man happy.
