Age related plates are awarded on a points system .... In theory, you can still get an age related plate without using the engine, provided all of the other major components are from a single donor & you have documentation to prove it.

At some point you will need to provide proof of your engines date of manufacture.

Having said all of that, some local DVLA offices seem to work to their own set of rules
