Thanks everyone. I was just about to start stamping a piece of plate then remembered I have a CNC milling machine
 (and just taken delivery of a second one ) so got a piece of 1.5mm plate and have engraved my VIN number into the plate. Just need to cut the plate out and then weld it onto the drivers side front frame upper diagonal.
