More often on here TBH as the guys know the roadster

With regards to the engine and transmission mounting some things to bear in mind:

The MX5 has an alloy girder running down it's length onto which the rear gearbox mount and the front diff mount are bolted. This holds the whole thing in check. After reading a lot on the american sites (the MX5 or Miata is the main Lotus 7 replica donor over there) the nosecone on the diff tends to lift with impressive force under acceleration so bolt it to a mounting bracket without any rubber bushing. This will stop this torsional twist. The same concept applies for the rear mount on the gearbox. For the engine mounts I found that Landrover Defender 300TDi gearbox mounts (two of the same hand) are spot on dimensionally and adequately strong to do the job. Details on mounting are due to be posted on my build thread soon.

Perfect!

Thanks a lot for that. In terms of dimensions and difference for the chassis I have bought that Keith Tanner book to see how much useful info it has. If you don't have it and want to know anything it says just let me know!

Sorry to say the Keith Tanner book is as much use as a chocolate teapot. It is basically a build diary with no information at all...

Get in touch with John at 3GE - he has all the dimensions sorted for the MK1 at least.

Oh well! Might be an interesting read anyway! Will contact 3GE some time today. Hoping to get some info on the measurements of the mk2 engine, gearbox and diff of one of the MX5 forums, once I have these I should be able to fab the chassis pretty well, Looks like I will have an engine to test fit, once I have test fitted that I can check it lines up which will hopefully prove that the gearbox and diff mountings will work as well!
