Have you actually tried doing up the nuts on the joints or are you saying they dont fit by just dropping the joints into position? Reason I am saying this is that the rubber boots on the joints will have slid down the machined tapers and you have to do the nuts up to pull the joints into the taper.

I know gus has used the transit drag links with the 3ge mushrooms with no problem, and it seems strange that Saturn would sell TRE's for the roadster that you are saying don't fit.
