Handy I am at exactly the same stage as you, and falling into the same pitfalls.
I've been filling and sanding my enlarged nosecone for about 2 weeks now, doesn't seem to get any smoother, just makes the garage dustier. Like you, my list is getting very small now. And like you, I just found out that I'm about 14" short on edging trim, Grrrrr.
