I woud have to agree with Ash & Adrian

Been there & done that a few times .... Never works out as cheap as you thought it was going to be !!??

As said, once the re-bore has been done it would be madness not to do the crankshaft bearings, the majority of the time this will involve a crank re-grind.

Once that lot has been done it'll be time to examine the head ?? If the bores are badly worn then the cam followers are not going to be much better, nor the valves & seats for that matter !!

Gaskets, head bolts & pumps to be added onto the final total

By the time that little lot is added up, a crate engine from GBS seems like a bargain.

If you don't want to spend that sort of cash, you should be able to find a good, used 2 litre zetec engine for not a lot of money

Unless an engine is exotic or difficult to get hold of, engine re-building tends to turn out being a money pit.
