Think we need some photo's of this.
I don't like the idea of fixing the piper to a thin side panel just doesn't seem right. surely if the tab is very close to teh side panel you wouldn't need a big hole. A few pictures might help or maybe I'm just being thick tonight

Mike you are being THICK sorry..
...run your copper pipe up to a bulkhead fitting in the side panel then from that fitting you fix your braided(dont go using rubber jonny pipe pleeeease!!) hose down to your caliper
