1/2 a lifetime ago a mate was gas welding a patch on the underside of a car and I was standing fire-watch for him. He finished the weld and a few seconds later there was a blood curdling scream from under the car followed by a thud and muted groan..................turns out he'd finished the weld and laid the filler rod down so he could turn the torch off, hot end of rod burnt through his overalls and jeans and underpants and got him right on the jap's eye , hence the scream. The thud and groan were from him headbutting the hot weld when he sat up after the burn, he had a cracking red stripe across his forehead for a few days, I opted not to see his other injury .
