CV Joint re-assembly?!?!?

Turn the center of the joint with the cage to 90 degrees and it will pull out complete, reassembly is the reverse. If you cake all the balls in grease that should hold them in place in the cage while you do it.

yep it is the CV joint and I disassembled it by rotating it through 90deg to remove the cage but can't get the begger back in without it locking up.... think it maybe worth just replacing if they are only 19.99 each not worth the hassle or risk if they could be shot anyway?!?

I have used that supplier for CV joints before & have never had any customer complaints re the quality of them

You not the only one, mine fell to bits when i went to fit it. When it was stored in a box. Gave up in the end, could get the balls back in but would lock up. Left it with my dad, he had it back together in 10 mins.

Thanks Robo, just spent another 15mins on it and result got it back together, once i worked out the direction of the grooves on the inner splined cage and then worked out the dirwection and twist with the flange it seemed to make sense but it was so sensitive, ended up putting to ball bearings in first then twisting and put in 1 ball at a time, not yet seen the youtube video so will be interesting to see how their method compared to mine but it's a bitch of a job to do.... never mind sorted now!
