Right, got fed up and made a wooden jig! Went much better but did involve holding 4 things at once...

Attatched SW1 to the top with SW2 attatched, got it positioned (eventually!) and made SW3 to fit. When looking from the side SW1 and 3 are about 2 degrees different but this should be easy to accomodate when I put the steering supports in place.

Thanks for the help guys, and for anyone who gets to this point: Make a Jig!!
