Just use a flap wheel in your grinder they are very good for this type of thing.
I use this type because they are free

Thanks for the reply and link know knew what I am looking for, I think my main concern is the noise of the grinder and upsetting the neighbours I,ll just have to do it in sort bursts.

Dont worry about the noise, it sounds pretty horrendous when your using it.

I was worried till my neighbor borrowed mine and its not half as bad as you would think

i would leave the welds unless they are in the way of something like a body panel there is no point taking the weld away if you dont need to

Hi thanks for your reply I agree it's just that some odd welds are a bit lumpy so I will need to just flash them over a little.

i was thinking the other day if i had used my tig to do final weld up would i have saved any time after the grind back

I wish that I could tig weld the finish looks great from the examples of it that I have seen.
I,ll just stick to my mig for now !
