I've been shooting for more years than......

As TKPM says, ya need to join a club first.
Because you're not going to be able to shoot legally
in the UK except at a club.
The problem I found was, the last Target Archery club I belonged to was very Compound bow bias.
Not for me..
The other thing I found, Said with respect to TKPM, way too stuffy for my liking.
Not allowed to shoot if you're not wearing the correct shade of Green....

I joined a Fields archery club, much more to my liking.
Wear what you like, and shoot with whatever you got.
Super cheap equipment is as good as high end stuff.

But at the end of the day, you still need a club.
So my suggestion is find your local club and see what they shoot with.
Also a good place to find second hand stuff from people upgrading.

A mate of mine works in the police, I've asked and he says he'll have look.

I used to do archery aswell, you do need a club for insurance.

I have to agree about colours, it got a bit better when they aloud club to choose there own colours.

Field archery is a lot more friendly than target archery.

A 72" bow , you must have bloody long arms. 25" Riser is stand these days for most adults.
W&W, Winstar, Roland etc are all good starter bows, Hoyt are a bit pricey for my liking.
As Dave said most clubs have good second bows for sale, i think there are 3 set of kits going in my own club.
