I had worn lifters on my original cvh engine Rob, all i could do was to replace them but wasn't too expensive. Soon afterwards the clam shells started knocking on the crank, engine just couldn't take the pace. Engine soon got upgraded.

Nice one Rob, not watched the vid yet (at work) but the Ecotec's do sound like a tractor if you remove all the standard airbox, they all sound like it, from new.

I remember putting a K&N filter on mine and thinking 'that doesn't sound right!' but they all do it.

but what do i replace it with !! it is just there to get me through iva but what to put in its place ?

saab ? redtop ? or worse !

im planning to try an engine flush to see if it quietens it down but who knows it has been sat dry in the garage for 2 years so i expect it to be a little rough but i was shocked !!

There's an oil additive called "Restore" which is supposed to be good for hydraulic lifters.

Have you still got the EGR gubbins connected Rob?
If you have, it may be worth disconnecting it to see if it quietens down a bit as I seem to remember that it's the EGR valve that is responsible for at least some of the tractor noise.

You won't need it anyhow running a MegaSquirt!
