You need a engine number to apply for IVA test, from the engine number they can determine the exact spec of the engine e.g maximum rpm for the noise test, emissions etc and registering with DVLA

My zetec engine numbers were really hard to read on the block, my 2.0l started with EDDG it's printed with lots of little tiny dots, I had to take a photo in bright light and zoom in on the computer to read the numbers, couldn't do it by eye
