Cheers for that Alan ...yep it is a looong thread that is now over three years old and I happy to say the car is nearing completion for IVA but then after that there will be endless tweaks to get it just the way I want it and maybe a screen at some point.....if you are hoping to replicate any of the Caterhams I would opt for a good strong engine that will accept some tuning mods, this was exactly the reason I chose the CA18DET and I know what it is capable of.

I'm in the process of building a parts list and hunting for a donor, thinking of going the zetec route, don't really expect to get to the same levels as the caterham but 150hp would be nice. My current toy is sitting in the garage on stands at the moment as the brakes are away to get refurbed. It's a mk4 vw R32 with VF stage 1 supercharger , once that is done and the garage is clear again think I'll get some steel and build my table to make a start. Seeing build threads like yours certainly makes me want to get cracking.
