Any recommendations or nonos for grill material?

I've constructed the "grill" from a number of shiny stainless steel strips that I bought in the local DIY shop. They are meant for covering the transition of carpet in one room to carpet in another.
Bits of an old tentpole as spacers (hacksawn in an angle) and 3 treaded (M4) rods to hold everything in place in the GRP nosecone.
The pictures aren't very good I' afraid but they show the idea.
