Yes, and you know how easyly electronic devices can be damaged in a workshop with metal saw dust and other kinds of crap.
I would definitely not put a fancy camera in there for 6 months, and a cheap 2nd hand Brinno or equivalent is exactly designed to make time lapse movies, without intervalometer or need to edit afterwards.
Also, a time lapse camera has to be always exactly at the same place, which means leaving it on site 24/24-7/7, so better not use a camera you might need for something else
