roll bar

Hi 2 all
I have a query regarding the roll bar bracing bars, I was wondering if
there is an IVA requirement to have these, personally I would like to
leave them off! other builders seem to do without, so if anyone
can point me in the right direction............

Depends if you have your seat belts mounted to the roll bar or not.
If you mount your seat belts to the horizontal bar at the bottom of the roll bar then you need to have either front or rear roll bar stays. How ever if your seat belts are mounted to some where like SB2 , RS4+5 ect then you don't need front or rear stays.

I am not using rear stays on my build but the bolts have been upgraded to m10 and I also had it welded by a very good offshore welding company. Not sure who it was but someone has passed Iva witho it these. Nathan knows who it is.

One thing to consider other than iva is if god forbid you roll it I personally think from a safety point of view the more bracing the better as the roll really is the only thing stopping your head hitting the floor

Mark from billingham passes without rear stays, his harnesses are mounted on the roll bar cross member. I have seen loads of mnr's on the road the same. Mounting to the seat back rail is a pita as its quite low, but a lot of manufacturers do, mk for one. Better to mount on the rollbar to get a bit of height behind the shoulders, harnesses should never be mounted below shoulder height. At the end of the day, its your choice, some iva testers may not like it, i dont know. Better to be on the safe side, or even better to keep it shiny side up

Its a valid point really. without the bracing the roll bar cant be as effective. Safety has to come first. With the single roll bar a line needs to be drawn from the top of it down to the nose cone and its only below that line theres any protection. i stand corrected, i hadnt seen this. Il look tonight but i was sure the iva cotradicted that. If im wrong il keep my mouth shut, not right about much these days.

. Either your link is way out of date or manufacturer is not bothered what happens to the body during an accident. Im sure iv also seen some proper reseach into this, il keep looking

Best not to confuse FIA requirements with IVA requirements, they frequently contradict.
