Default IVA run through - Complete Kit Car Magazine

While out and about today I noticed the latest issue of Complete Kit Car in the newsagent. One of the features is a run through of the IVA process which makes for interesting reading.

Some interestings things I've picked up are -

Chassis number must be on the RHS

Brake fluid reservoir must be labelled with type of fluid

All controls must be labelled - including the indicator stalks

Centre rear view mirror must be permanent - no stick on ones!

Changes to the way cockpit protrusions are measured

Cars will need either a steering lock, or profesionally fitted immobiliser

All outboard seats must have headrests

New method of assesing wheelarch coverage which looks like it will affect us

Filler cap must either be operated by the ignition key or tethered to the car

Changes to lighting requirements

Twin master cylinder brake setups must have the balance bar WELDED up to prevent future adjustment

Noise test dropped to 99db.

The article is not a full in depth look at the IVA, but makes interesting reading.

Cheers

Dave

Hmm - a 4 seater roadster - 2 inside - 2 outside!

Mark - will your arches fit the new IVA, I'm guessing your seats will be fine, apart from the low back which I guess will need a head rest.

Cheers

Rules are made to be broken and some are just potty like those in the IVA test but mainly it's a good thing as keeps things to a standard.
