Hummm im not sure to be honest. I know im going to be running around 250 bhp at the wheels im using the stock wishbone design. i would think the uprights would be ok and the wishbones as well. I belive the first place to go would be the brackets would bend/twist a bit. Thats probably the first place im going to add extra strength.

Edit: Then again the wishbones were not designed for that much power heh. So maby a revisit at a later date will be worth doing. Will run with stock wishbones for a few months on the road and see how it goes.

The YBx power delivery should be well within the capabilities of the suspension.

The delivery of both power and torque does not come in until the vehicle is rolling so the strain on the components is reduced.

Persnonally, not based on any science at the minute. I would suggest using thicker walls for chassis and wishbones. I would suggest wishbones are least affected and it will be chassis, and engine/gearbox mounts that will take the hammering.

Im using a 3SGTE engine (turbo) that will be good for about 170-180kw (230 - 245hp).
To make sure the IRS at the back will handle that, I really supported everything in a big way - double upper and lower bracket carrier beams jointed together to prevent twist, some diagonals etc. The wishbones are 25dia x 2mm tubing.

At the end of the day the rear end may look like a Chines bamboo scaffold with all the tubes, but Im sure will get the power down on the tarmac, and the little extra weight at the back wont hurt either

Here are some pics.

thanks guys,
my engineer(who has no kitcar building experience but does make wishbones for the van dieman race cars) said "it might be possible to use higher grade steel to make the wishbones therefore not altering the dimensions" and then strengthen the brackets too.
