Hand Brake and Rear Drums
I didn't get a conclusive answer when I asked on locostbuilders with several people claiming they were definately right.
Does the hand brake cable come in from the front or the rear. Eddys picture on my build thread shows it comes from the front, but other on locostbuilders claim you'd never get it in place so it has to come in from the back (effectively swapping your drums to the opposite sided). Any thoughts here. also whats the process to shorten said handbrake cable?

Definately from the front and fit one side to the shoes and shorten one side only with something like a solderless nipple or drill a suitable sized bolt and weld cable end with mig.

Can you literally weld an bolt to the end of the cable?
Sounds like the easiest solution. From the front sounds good like the correct orientation. Thx

Only one way allowed
In the Sierra it is clear that the two cable guides make a nice S-shape. The cable is connected to the drum back plate at the front side of the car.
The question was put up in october 2009 by HandyAndy. And Flyerncle gave the defintive answer to this : Not a good idea to reverse the backplates as there are leading and trailing shoes on the drum set up,and they would be in the wrong direction ie trailing shoe at the front and it is a lot smaller in surface area. I used the threaded part of a suitable sized bolt and chopped off the hex head, crimp it if possible and yes you can mig the wire to stop it pulling through, not ideal gven two different metals but works.
The way the drum is fitted ie cables to front has worked on thousands of Sierra's so why mess with it and dont forget the IVA the brakes have to work.
