Hi all
I am lucky enough to have access to a well kitted out workshop as my dad is a design & technology teacher (at my old school, in fact). Amongst other things, they have a laser cutter (600 x 300mm work space, wood and plastic only) and a plasma cutter. I recently made three plates from 3mm thick 50mm wide steel strip to weld down the length of my transmission tunnel (to carry brake and fuel lines) and decided to have a go at reducing the weight a little... I laser cut a stencil with tabs that locked onto the steel strip and slid/clamped it into position. I used this to guide the nozzle of the plasma cutter. A few of the cuts are a bit rough and ready as this was my first time using the plasma cutter - nothing a round file can't fix though! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Photo to follow once they have been welded onto my chassis! |

Well if that's the first time you have used a plasma cutter not bad at all, give the guy a pat on the back for having a damned good go.
