![]() Are you using fuel injection? If so, you'll need an out and a return for the fuel. I used 10mm diameter OD pipe exiting my fuel tank. The opening for my fuel sender, in the top of the tank is 38mm. The opening I used for the fuel filler was also 38mm with a length of 50mm OD pipe welded on for the fuel neck. In my fuel filler neck I have another 10mm OD pipe for the fuel vent.
As I am using motorbike carbs (ZX6R) I used the fuel pump off that bike. |

![]() if your using fuel inj. 12mm outlet to the pump - 8mm return it should be - most pumps use that size (internal dia hose) just to add, the breather in the top of the tank needs to be very high up.. as high as you can get it - with a roll over valve fitted inline too. (the valve is a simple ball in the valve - allows air to pass but no fuel in the event of roll over)
if your designing a tank it would be a good idea to add a small sump to it - i designed mine a few years back - to ensure you get a reliable fuel pick up when low level put the sump in - the fuel take off hose to the pump runs to the bottom of this with a filter on if you can. the sump only needs to be about inch deep round lower than the tank bottom. think also about your sender.. how it will be mounted and sealed. also why not weld in baffles.. stop it sloshing about. if you need to get gaskets - nitrile rubber sheet is the only stuff that works with petrol |
