Lo all,
Well I've started work on my dash and scuttle fitting and have a couple of questions.

1, Do you have to fit panels under the scuttle area to seal off access to the electrics?

2, If I pad my dashboard do I have to have a 19mm radius on the bottom of the dash. I plan to have a 90 degree return on the bottom of the dash which will be padded so not sure?

I plan to fit my dash behind the flange on the scuttle and fix through with powder coated dome bolts (coloured black of course) and have riv nuts inserted into the ally dash.

Any advice greatfully welcome.......

When i padded my dash, i kept the 19mm radius, it help to soften the look of the dash.

If I remember rightly the underside has to be made so that little iva hands can't get to the electrics.

When I did my dash I just carried the padding and vinyl right round and fixed to the back of the dash so that it is padded right round which I believe means u don't need the radius as it is a soft edge

Well I think I will try and tack some ally pipe to the bottom of the dash and cover in foam and leatherette. I'm going to try and cover in the bottom of the dash area somehow but it seems awkward around the steering column area.
Any advice regarding IVA in this area?.

Are you going to use the original mx5 clocks?

Hi David,
Yeah I'm planning to use the original instrument cluster as I think it looks pretty good..
I'm going to cut down the bezel and insert it into the dash somehow and all I need to add is a hazard and fog light switch I think.
That's one of my projects this weekend (if i get time).
Will post a photo of how it goes...

Hardboard, some plastic angle, a tube of Sikaflex and some plastic expanding screw rivet things.

Have a look at my gallery 6 of photos for how I did mine. Just need to cover with some vinyl and job will be done.
