NAH, bike engines are for bikes.

Just built my roadster and cvh engine packed in after a week so have placed a 2.0l zetec on bike carbs and megajolt. Its completely transformed the car, just what it needs. The good thing about the cvh then zetec is the cvh is much more straight forward, easier to pass sva on emmissions and a lot of the cvh parts can be used in the transfer to zetec. All i had to buy was:

2.0l zetec 46k - £110
zx6r bike carbs - £45
carb mounting rubbers £30
inlet flange - £15
zx6r fuel pump - £30
megajolt lt v4 - £180

£410

You can make a lot of the bits yourself including the manifold, saves £200

Proper revving meaty engine....

I'm with Spud. My Zetec install has cost me:

£160 for 2l engine and gearbox - including modified sump.
£20 for water pump
£10 for inlet manifold flange
£35 for throttle bodies
£30 for 1.8l flywheel and clutch (also came with free brand new alternator - lucky me!)
£100 for tuned length stainless exhaust manifold.

Still got to buy ecu, but I reckon I'll end up with 160-170 reliable bhp for less than £600 - good value if you ask me!

Just my two pennies worth!

This is getting asked a lot atm..

Mine was like this..

1.8 Escort Engine £200
Bike carbs £35
Megajolt £95
1.8 Mondeo Clutch £20 (ebay)
Inlet manifold £0.00, made it myself
2.0L cams £30
DOHC Starter motor £10

You need the Edis and coil pack, VR sensor (all came with my engine) and a different alternator bracket.

Easiest is a 1.8 from an Escort, no sump chopping mods etc. Water pump goes the right way, flywheel is much thinner/lighter than a 2L one.
Clutch is from a 1.8 Mondeo with a Capri release bearing.

The above gave me 155bhp (flywheel) on the rollers.

So the Type 9 gearbox bolts straight on or do you need an adapter?

how many people stick with the original Zetec injection/ECU? surely that'd be easier and cheaper for the budget minded? (just thinking outloud )

Type 9 bolts straight on as the bolt pattern is the same as all previous Ford engines.

1.8 Escort flywheel (much thinner/lighter than 2.0) with a pre 98 Mondeo 1.8 clutch, Capri CCt132 release bearing and it all goes together nicely.
