![]() I was just about to make the same comment, I have a short shift fitted to my type 9 box, when selecting reverse I still have to "push" to the left & slide stick up to engage reverse, no longer need to push "down", takes a little getting used to but I,m now confident when selecting reverse or 1st.
So Bill, maybe your box has a short shift already fitted? cheers andy |

![]() If you are worried that your in reverse not first, pop it into second then straight up into first. Then pull away.

![]() Hi Bill
Check the reverse gate is not missing or worn Here ![]() Check for wear in the lower gearlever Here ![]() If these are ok then it's likely to be a very spongy gearlever bush. Hope the pictures help mate ![]()

![]() Rally Designs do the quick shift kit reasonably priced. They are certainly worthwhile and if you get the competition one it does away with the rubber damper on the stick whilst shorting the throw on the stick. Makes the gear change much more positive and with a shorter action.
Makes it feel more racey instead of tractory, same as changing the steering wheel. AndyH
