Now don't go dropping anything in there again ![]() Some muppett sitting at this keyboard once dropped a M6 nut into an uncovered inlet manifold once .... Yep, that inlet valve was fully open ![]() ![]() If I had half a brain back then, I would have backed the engine off a bit & tried to remove it with a magnetic pick up stick !!?? Done it the hard way & removed the head ![]()

Turned it over to clear the redex, decided to leave the rags in place to stop it spraying everywhere. 2 get blown off and land on the floor, 2 vanish completely. He thinks nothing of it and re-assembles it, but it won't start. At this point he calls me to come have a look at it. I managed to lend a borescope off a local garage, had a look inside the cylinders, and sure enough, 2 of them contained some very mashed rags. Absolutely had to take the head off to get them out.

i got called into our local shipyard once to have a look at an 8 cylinder gardner standby set that would not run right in a survey ship Several guys had had a look done filters/lift pump/injectors the usual sort of thing then out of desperation we were called. i stood scratching me nuts and me mate rubbin his chin totally flummoxed after checkin what had already been checked and going a bit more in depth and goin nowhere for ages. until i found a teatowel had been sucked up the front air intake never ever found out how a tea towel ended there but it caused a blooming great bill and a lot of embarrassment all round how do you justify a bill for two blokes 8 hours etc to pull a teatowel out of an engine ..........doh cheers les g |
