Exclamation

One test at IVA is to grasp the steering wheel and pull, push, forward, backwards, side to side. This test that the mountings are secure.
I found some steel tube of the right outside diameter to fit the steering column mounts, drilled to take the bolts and bolted it all together with wide washers.
Solid it is.

Smile steering column oval

So the general opinion seems to be that as long as it is some kind of hard rubber / steel bush it should be ok. With it being steering, I just wanted to be sure and I think you've all answered that OK, cheers, Dave.

Had a little play with some steel on the lathe this afternoon after I spent 45 mins trying to free the scroll on the chuck, realy must clean the machines after each use Just trying to decide whether the tophat should be tappered to match the yoke or make the barrel smaller and use the return face against the outside of the ali to keep every thing in place. Drilled through with 12.5mm hole and only £7.50 a pair any body?
