With regards wipers or not, I've used Rain-x http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/270855345769?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&va r=sbar&adtype=pla on windscreens and visors, and it works well as long as you appy it fairly regularly.
