in my honest opinion
a good old 2.0l pinto is still a good power unit the old crossflow is getting long in the tooth but the 1.6 with lots of money thrown at it is useful
andif you really want to use a cortina/escort or capri with a live back axle you would be better off building a locost or a Mc sorley as they are designed for a live axle the roadster is really pitched at using a sierra set up to provide an independant rear suspension (IRS ) set up
try and formulate a game plan of where you want to end up.
to re-engine later can have lots of hidden costs
