![]() So... if I bought a Mondeo how much of it could I use for a donor? Enough for an age related plate? What about the emissions, there a lot tougher aren't they?
Another curve ball....could you use an old cortina instead of an escort? Awesome replies guys. |

![]() Hi John
There are good points to the 20liter with mt 75 box. The gear box is stronger, the brakes are better as they have vented discs and larger drums I think the diff is mostly 3.62 . It ends there with the engine as the zetec makes for a much better option. |

a good old 2.0l pinto is still a good power unit the old crossflow is getting long in the tooth but the 1.6 with lots of money thrown at it is useful andif you really want to use a cortina/escort or capri with a live back axle you would be better off building a locost or a Mc sorley as they are designed for a live axle the roadster is really pitched at using a sierra set up to provide an independant rear suspension (IRS ) set up try and formulate a game plan of where you want to end up. to re-engine later can have lots of hidden costs cheers les g |

![]() Thanks again Les.
Going to lie down in a dark room and mull over the options. Think I was trying to run before I could walk. After scanning Ebay, Trade it and Autotrader there does seem to be plenty of donors so I'll hold fire for a bit. I've also been talking to someone locally who's building a locost but he's changed the rear end to accomodate IRS. Cheers John |

![]() My donor was a 2.0 DOHC. it has a 3.9 non lsd 7.5 inch differential. Which is pretty useless for what we want.
